Sercel announces the first sale of SeaRay™; A new generation of ocean bottom seismic
Date: February 15, 2007
Houston, February 2, 2007 -- Sercel announced today that Geokinetics Inc has purchased the first commercial application of its SeaRay™ system. The SeaRay™ system is specifically designed for redeployable 4-component seabed seismic acquisition. The new system offers improved operational efficiency, greater flexibility, and higher resolution, full wave images than any of its predecessors.
Dick Miles, President of International Operations for Geokinetics observed, “Our crews have enjoyed a successful history with Sercel seismic acquisition systems. Geokinetics is excited to be receiving the first Sercel SeaRay™ system for our growing ocean bottom operations.”
Mark Farine, Sercel VP Sales for North and South America added, “We are confident that the SeaRay™ system will be the latest extension of Sercel’s reputation for innovative technology that yields reliable equipment and excellent data quality. The SeaRay™ stems from the same architecture as the 428XL acquisition system.”
The global challenge of managing reserves gets tougher each year, and seismic acquisition systems must keep pace. That means constantly improving data gathering technology and enhancing reliability and system performance to ensure reliability under even the most adverse conditions.
Sercel has recognized the increasing market demand for ocean bottom seismic and has incorporated in SeaRay™ more than fifteen years of direct experience in ocean bottom cable design and operations, the latest in materials science, sophisticated operational and mechanical modeling, and the most rigorous testing regimen ever.
