These pioneering companies invented and patented several marine seismic sources and various pieces of peripheral equipment widely used by the industry through the years.
The product range includes 3 families of Guns including the G. GUN, the GI GUN, and the WaterGun.
The G. GUN family, generates signal by the sudden expansion of very high pressure air into the water.
The G. GUN family includes a collection of exemplary products with great reliability, strong performance and easy adaptability. These compact air Guns are designed for marine seismic acquisitions, crustal studies and VSP surveys.

The GI GUN family has been developed to reduce or suppress the bubble oscillations of a traditional air Gun. This is made possible by injecting air into the bubble created by the injection of air into the water from the air Gun. When the bubble reaches its maximum volume the right amount of additional air is injected into it controlling the collapse of the bubble and its associated noise. The GI GUN is comprised of a generator to create the acoustic pulse and an injector to reduce or suppress the bubble. The GI Gun can be used for high resolution surveys, transition zone and VSP.
Benefits of using the GI GUN:
- Reduce/suppress the bubble oscillations of a single air Gun
- Well suited for high resolution surveys, transition zone surveys, and walk away VSP
The WaterGun is used to generate high frequency signals (up to 2500 Hz) and is the only Gun on the world market suitable for very high resolution applications. Compressed air is used to propel a water jet that creates a vacuum cavity which, when imploded by the surrounding hydrostatic pressure, emits a strong, bubble-free high-frequency signal.

Sercel can also provide turn key solutions for outfitting the guns, including support structures, flotation devices, compressed air supply and umbilicals.
